How to simplify the management model?
The management model, it is not a secret for companies, to transform their management model (taking into account the new issues of the digital economy and the expectations of employees) is to leave more autonomy with talents by simplifying the modes of operation.
Until now, companies thought mainly in terms of processes and scripts. Everything must be framed, postponed and justified. Roles are extremely defined and organizational structures are resolutely vertical. However, times are changing. Thanks to digital, this change is facilitated as communication and collaboration take place more directly (no matter where we are in the world).
New generations value mission interest. They want to experiment and be more autonomous in their decision making. For companies, this state of mind is very interesting: a versatile employee develops more skills, is more committed (less monotonous work) and can more easily evolve in another position.
In the same vein, responsibility is a growing trend. The idea that those on the ground are more capable of making a decision is finally recognized by companies. By giving more autonomy to “those who do it,” companies enable skills development.
Managers become coaches
Managers who control everything and make all decisions disappear. The managerial posture is actually evolving. Managers are gradually becoming facilitators or coaches who accompany their teams in achieving objectives. They position themselves as referents and their missions are to help, motivate and coach.
Hunting down unnecessary rules
Any attempt to transform your management model goes through an analysis of your internal situation. During this “audit”, you must go hunting for all unnecessary rules and practices. Unnecessary? Yes, when actions or practices are of low value, you must eliminate them. Encourage honesty to your employees so that some behaviors or practices are no longer brakes with the agility of a service or team.
